Unpopular opinion: My friend's drone shots of the old Concord Galleria were boring compared to my ground level photos.

He spent hours getting aerial views of the empty parking lot, but my close ups of the cracked tile fountain and a single shoe left in the food court told a much sadder story. Why do people think a dead mall looks more interesting from 200 feet up?

See this everywhere now. People mistake a wide shot for a good story, skip the details that actually mean something. Your shoe photo probably hit harder than his whole drone reel.

Honestly that line about details meaning something is so true. Tbh I saw a travel post last week with this huge mountain range shot, but the photo that stuck with me was a close up of cracked mud in a dry riverbed. Ngl all those epic drone shots just blur together after a while, but one good detail shot actually tells you a story.
