The Tuesday the power went out at Forest Fair Mall in Cincinnati

I was there in 2019 doing photos around the empty corridors. Around 2pm the lights flickered and then everything went dark except the emergency exits. Stood in total silence for about 10 minutes near the old food court. That was the quietest I have ever heard a building that size. Has anyone else had a weird moment like that in a dead mall?

Nah, I don't see it as weird or creepy at all. Dead malls are peaceful if you ask me. I've been to Forest Fair a few times when it was practically empty and it's honestly nice having all that space to yourself. No crowds, no loud music blasting from stores, no kids running around screaming. The silence is a feature not a bug. People act like every empty mall is haunted or something but it's just what happens when places get abandoned by shoppers.

Honestly, a buddy of mine actually wandered into one of those old dead malls in Ohio a couple years back. He said it was super eerie at first because the fountains were still running but everything else was totally still. But after like ten minutes he said it felt more like a weird kind of calm, you know? @lily89 is totally right about that silence being a feature though - my friend said he sat on a bench and just listened to the water for a solid 20 minutes. Ngl, that sounds way more appealing than dealing with a packed food court on a Saturday.
