That escalator at the Meridian Mall in Ohio made a sound I'll never forget
I was at the Meridian Mall outside Columbus last summer, the one that closed in 2019. The escalator was still running but every step made this grinding, metal-on-metal screech that echoed through the whole empty food court. I stood there for a good 10 minutes just watching it go, wondering why nobody ever turned it off. Has anyone else run into weird stuff left running in dead malls?

Left running long after anyone cared" sounds like a solid investment to me, @laura_knight54, saves money replacing it.
