Spent $80 on a cheap respirator for the old Sears at the Westgate Plaza, the seal was junk and I breathed in a ton of dust.
Had to throw it out after a single trip and now I'm coughing like crazy. What's a decent, affordable mask you all trust for that kind of moldy drywall dust?

Man, that "coughing like crazy" part hits home. My buddy had the same thing happen in his attic. He bought some flimsy hardware store mask for insulation dust and it was basically a decoration. Ended up with a nasty chest thing for a week. He swears by the 3M half-face respirators now, the kind with the pink pancake filters. Says the seal is solid and they're not crazy expensive.

Those pink pancake filters are for chemical vapors, not dust. The P100 filters for dust are usually magenta or purple. A lot of people get that wrong and it defeats the whole point. The seal is good, but if you're using the wrong filter media you're still breathing in the bad stuff. It's a solid piece of gear, but you have to match the filter to the job.
