Spent $35 on a cheap headlamp at a gas station in Youngstown and it saved my whole trip

I drove out to look at the old Eastwood Mall in Niles last month and the power was cut to the whole building, so my phone light died about ten minutes into the concourse. I almost turned around, but the gas station across the road had these $35 LED headlamps on a rack by the register and I grabbed one just to be safe. It lit up the whole food court and I got the shots I wanted, plus it lasted the full two hours without dimming. Now I keep it in my glove box for every trip. What's your cheap gear that ended up being the thing you never leave home without?
