Security guard chase at dead mall took me 4 hours to solve

I was shooting photos inside the old Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, Alabama last month and this rent-a-cop kept following me store to store, but every time I turned around he'd disappear behind a pillar. Took me four hours to realize he wasn't stalking me, he was just doing his rounds on the same loop as my route, so we kept crossing paths. Has anyone else spent way too long trying to figure out why someone kept appearing in their abandoned mall shots, or was it just my paranoid brain?
