My boot got stuck in a broken escalator at the old Westfield Plaza last weekend

That old Westfield Plaza is a total time capsule (and a safety hazard, apparently). Those escalators were always making weird noises, even back in the day. I bet the maintenance budget dried up years ago, so now they just let things break and stay broken. Makes you wonder what else is held together with duct tape and hope in there.

The city council minutes from last month showed a complaint about exposed wiring near the food court. It's definitely more than just noisy escalators at this point. The whole place feels like it's one power surge away from total darkness.
