Heard it had a lot to do with that big Macy's pulling out and the whole place just never really bounced back.

Was it just the one big store leaving though, or was it more like a slow death? I remember reading that their flagship location had been losing foot traffic for years, even before that anchor store pulled out. Did the mall management ever try anything like bringing in a replacement anchor or switching up the store mix to draw people back in? Seems like once a place gets that reputation for being empty it's almost impossible to shake.
