Hot take: carry a $4 headlamp from Harbor Freight when you poke around old malls
I spent about 40 minutes trying to find the old service hall behind the JCPenney at Rolling Acres in Akron because I was using my phone flashlight and every corner looked the same. A $4 headlamp from Harbor Freight, the little 3 AAA one, fixed it in one trip because both hands stay free for door handles and my camera. Should have done that two malls ago instead of burning phone battery on darkness. What cheap gear do you all carry that ended up mattering way more than you expected?
I saw a urbex guy on YouTube say the same thing, that phone lights kill your battery and barely light anything anyway. Grabbed a cheap $5 clip light after that and it's been way better than my phone for poking around dark spots.
