Found a dead food court in the abandoned Methuen Mall last Tuesday

Went up to the Methuen Mall last week near Boston. Place has been closed since 2016 I think. The food court was totally frozen in time. Tables still had those metal chairs bolted down. One of those old Sbarro pizza counters still had a menu board up. Price for a slice was $3.50. I found a receipt stuck under a tile from July 2014 for two pepperoni slices and a Coke. That little piece of paper just hit me hard. Did anyone else find something weird like that in your local dead mall?

What was the date on that receipt? I always wonder if the person who left it even remembers stopping there that day. Probably just a normal lunch run nobody thought twice about. But now that little scrap of paper is like a time capsule. Makes you think about all the ordinary moments that just get left behind.

Read an article the other day about a guy who found his old grocery receipt from like 1992 tucked inside a book. It was for milk, bread, and a magazine. He couldn't even remember buying any of it but the prices were SO low it felt like a different world. That's exactly what this is. Ordinary stuff we do a hundred times and forget in an hour, but somehow it becomes this little snapshot of a whole day. Wild how something so forgettable can end up being the thing that sticks around.
