Last week my 2008 iPod classic suddenly played all 5 days without a single skip or crash
I use it every morning on the bus to work and it normally freezes at least once a week. Has anyone else had a weirdly perfect run with an old device that made you hold onto it longer?

Is it possible old tech gets a second wind right before it finally gives out, kind of like how a flickering lightbulb suddenly shines super bright for a moment? I've noticed that with my old car too, it'll run perfect for a week and then throw a weird warning light.

Skeptical? Nah, more like amused. A 2008 iPod classic playing five days straight without a hiccup is like my grandma's ancient microwave beeping perfectly for a week before finally dying - doesn't mean the thing's suddenly got magical powers. Maybe your iPod just got lucky with the bus vibrations or the USB port was extra cooperative that week. Old devices glitch out randomly, and sometimes they just have a good streak. Don't turn it into a deep tech conspiracy about "hidden battery lives" or whatever. It's probably just a coincidence, like my old laptop deciding to work flawlessly right before I dropped it off at the recycling center.
