Just realized my old iPod Classic holds battery way better after one simple trick

I had this 5th gen iPod sitting in a drawer for like 2 years. Last month I pulled it out and the battery died in like 20 minutes. Someone on another forum told me to do a full drain then a 12 hour charge cycle. Did that 3 times over a week and now I get almost 6 hours of playback again. Has anyone else had luck reviving old lithium ion batteries this way?

Always figured that was just a myth for old phones, but you just convinced me to dig my iPod out of the junk drawer.

Well I'll be. That old iPod is probably worth more as a paperweight at this point. The battery is likely toast and the click wheel might not even spin right anymore. Not to mention you'd need a vintage cable and computer with iTunes from 2012 just to get any music on it. Honestly it's more trouble than it's worth for the few songs you could maybe squeeze on there. Better off just leaving it in the drawer.
