Hit 4,000 songs on my 2007 iPod classic and it finally told me its age
My 60GB model croaked at 4,012 tracks last Tuesday, the hard drive clicking like a dying cricket, so now I'm hunting for a replacement battery and wondering if anyone else has a count that broke their trust.

Ever tried swapping the battery yourself? I did it on mine a couple years back when the drive started acting up, took about an hour with a cheap kit from eBay and it bought me another 2,000 songs before the screen finally gave out.
