Debate: Is it worth keeping a CRT monitor or just go LCD for retro gaming?
I been going back and forth on this after trying to play my old PS2 on a modern LCD vs a Sony Trinitron I found at a thrift store for $20. The CRT has that perfect scan line look but it weighs like 60 pounds and takes up half my desk. Which side do you fall on for older consoles?

I been through this exact thing. For light gun games and anything 240p, CRT is hands down the way to go. But the weight and space is a real pain, especially if you move around a lot. If you got the room and can snag a smaller CRT like a 14 inch, that's a solid middle ground. Otherwise, a good upscaler like a RetroTINK on a modern LCD gets you close enough without breaking your back.

Hold up, I gotta push back on this. Those small 14 inch CRTs are still heavy and take up way more space than they're worth for the picture quality you're getting. I've had multiple light gun games look completely fine on a regular flat screen with a solid upscaler, and I don't have to strain my eyes on a tiny screen. Plus, finding a CRT in decent shape that doesn't have geometry issues or burn-in is a nightmare these days. People act like every CRT is a pristine Sony Trinitron when most of them are just bulky trash that smells like melted plastic. You're better off just embracing the convenience of a modern setup unless you've got a dedicated game room and the patience to hunt down a good one.
