Appreciation post: my 2006 Nokia still beats my smartphone for grocery runs

I used to type out a full shopping list on my phone, but now I just text myself numbers like "38, 12, 4" on the Nokia and decode it at the store, it takes half the time and zero battery worry. Anyone else hold onto an old phone for one weird specific task that makes no sense to anyone else?

Is it just me or does every single thing we own now come with some hidden job we never expected it to do? I do the same thing with my old iPod, it's basically just a flashlight and a white noise machine at this point. It's funny how we keep one ancient gadget around not for nostalgia but because it does that one task better than the shiny new tech we paid too much for. Maybe it's proof that simpler tools just work better for certain stuff, and we're all slowly turning into hoarders of tiny, practical relics.
