A guy at a garage sale in Boise sold me a 1998 Palm Pilot for $3 and it ruined my notebook habit
I was at a garage sale off State Street in Boise about two years ago, mostly looking for cheap tools, when I spotted a dusty Palm Pilot IIIxe in a box of old cords. The guy wanted $3 and threw in the stylus for free, so I figured why not. I got home, put in two fresh AAA batteries, and the thing booted right up like it had been waiting for me. For the next few weeks I actually used it for my grocery lists and work notes, and here is the dumb part, I started trusting it more than my paper notebook. Then one afternoon the screen went blank during a meeting and I lost three days of reminders, no warning, no beep, just gone. I still keep it in my desk drawer and fire it up sometimes just to poke at the little green screen. Has anyone else had an old gadget quietly take over a habit and then bail on you at the worst time?
