That quote about 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' turned out to be the worst advice I ever followed
My pressure washer's unloader valve started making this weird chirping noise on a job in Akron last Tuesday. I kept thinking, it's still working fine, just ignore it. Then Wednesday morning it seized up completely mid-job. Took me 4 hours and $120 in parts to get back running. Should have swapped it out the second I heard that noise. Has anyone else learned this lesson the hard way with equipment that gave you obvious warning signs?

Oh man, that's the kind of thing that sticks with you. So when you heard that chirping, what made you think it was minor instead of a sign the valve was about to go? I'm curious if you had any other weird symptoms that seemed small at the time.

Buddy of mine had a similar thing with his skid steer. Engine sputtered a little on cold starts for like two weeks, figured it was nothing, then the fuel pump grenaded and left him stranded in the middle of a muddy lot.
