That password manager "expert" on Reddit gave me garbage advice

Some dude with a fancy flair told me to use a hardware key for everything and ditch my password manager, said it was the only real security. I spent $65 on two YubiKeys, set them up on my accounts, then lost one on a bus in Chicago. The backup worked fine, but the whole thing made me realize that advice only fits people who never need to log in from a friend's laptop. I ended up going back to my manager and enabling 2FA on the important stuff, which took less than an hour total. The key is still sitting in my drawer, and I feel like I wasted cash on a trend instead of a tool I actually need. Has anyone else gotten burned by internet "experts" pushing one-size-fits-all setups?
