Shoutout to the $200 'hacker-proof' router I bought last year

I fell for one of those expensive routers that promised military-grade security and automatic threat blocking. Dropped $200 on it after reading some glowing reviews from tech bloggers (who probably got paid to say that). Turns out, all the extra 'security features' did was slow my internet to a crawl and block some sketchy sites I never visit anyway. I actually called their support line three times and got nothing but canned responses about how I needed to upgrade my plan. Meanwhile, a buddy of mine just uses a $40 router with basic firewall settings and a good ad blocker, and he's never had a single issue. Has anyone else gotten duped by these overpriced security routers that do way less than they claim?
