Rant: I used the same password on 14 accounts until my Spotify got hijacked from a city I've never been to
Last month I got locked out of my Spotify and the login history showed a device in Lagos, Nigeria. My email password was the same as my Spotify password, so I panicked and started changing everything. Took me 3 hours to fix 14 accounts that all shared some version of my dog's name plus my birth year. I finally set up a password manager and Bitwarden flagged 11 of them as pwned. How do you guys handle the ones you can't change, like your old wifi router login?
That line about "11 of them as pwned" made my stomach drop a little, because that was almost me. I did the exact same dog name plus birth year thing for years and just kept telling myself nobody would bother guessing it. Then my email got hit and I spent a whole weekend resetting stuff while my hands were shaking. You did the right thing moving to a manager, and honestly getting 14 accounts cleaned up in 3 hours is pretty fast. For the old router, I just log into the admin page from a wired connection and change the password there, since most routers let you do that even if the sticker is outdated. Just write the new one on a piece of tape under the router so you don't drive yourself crazy later.
