I used to ignore MFA till that one phishing email got me

I thought multi-factor authentication was just an extra hassle, especially for my personal accounts. Then last month I got a fake email from "Amazon" asking me to confirm a purchase, and I almost clicked the link. A buddy at work showed me how the link would have stolen my password, and I realized MFA would have blocked them even if I was dumb. Does anyone here use a specific authenticator app they swear by?

Ugh, come on, you guys are falling for the MFA marketing hype. @jessel35, you say Google Authenticator is simple, but what happens when your phone breaks and you didn't back up those codes? You're locked out of everything. MFA just adds a second place for things to go wrong. Honestly, if you're careful and never click random links, a strong password is all you need. Most people get hit because they reuse passwords, not because they lack a six-digit code. It's a false sense of security that makes people ignore the real problem, which is just being smarter with your login info.

I almost clicked the link" - that part really got me. One wrong click and you could have lost everything, it's scary how fast these scams work. I use Google Authenticator just because it's simple and I never have to worry about losing access if I switch phones.
