Hot take: turning off my 2FA saved me from a huge headache last month

I was helping a buddy set up his small HVAC website on a shared server and the 2FA kept locking us out because his phone was dead. We finally got in after 45 minutes of waiting for backup codes and it made me wonder if all the 2FA hype is worth it when you actually work in the field. Has anyone else had a situation where strict security protocols caused more problems than they solved?

turning off my 2FA saved me from a huge headache" - that's wild. I had a buddy who lost access to his whole business email for like three days because his phone got dunked in a puddle and he couldn't get the 2FA backup codes to work. He ended up having to call support and prove his identity with like old invoices. Total nightmare.

So all that "security" just made a puddle the new master of your business? Guess we should all start laminating our phones instead of backing up codes, huh?
