Heard my coworker say "just use Dad123" for passwords and it clicked for me

I used to think password managers were overkill. Like, who's really trying to hack my school lunch account? Then I heard my coworker telling a student to use "Dad123" as their computer lab password because it was easy to remember. That made me realize how many people do stuff like that. I signed up for Bitwarden that same week and now I make all my accounts use random passwords. Has anyone else had a moment where they suddenly saw how bad their own password habits were?

That "Dad123" thing hits hard... it's like how everyone I know uses their pet's name for something important, not just passwords but pins and stuff too. Makes you wonder what other shortcuts we're all taking without realizing it.

My banking PIN is literally the year I got my first dog, which I'm now realizing is not exactly a secret if anyone ever finds my old Facebook photos. I also use the same four numbers for my gym locker, the code to get into my apartment building, and the last four digits of my library card PIN. It's a good thing I'm not interesting enough for anyone to bother hacking.
