Can we talk about password managers vs writing them down after my login sheet got lost
I kept a paper list of passwords in my desk drawer at home in Boise for 3 years, and when I moved apartments last week the sheet vanished. Half my accounts got locked because I could not reset them without the old email, and I spent 4 hours on the phone with support. So is it better to use a password manager that could get hacked, or go back to paper and risk losing it again?

Man, I gotta push back here because paper is honestly not the disaster everyone makes it out to be. You lost one sheet in a move, but a password manager is one single point of failure that hackers spend all day trying to crack, and if that ever gets breached, every account you own goes down at once instead of just the ones on your list. At least with paper, a thief would have to physically break into your place and even then they'd need to connect your random scribbles to actual accounts. Plus you can make two copies and stash one at your mom's house or a safe deposit box, and now losing one copy does not wipe you out. What actually burned you was not having a backup and using an old email you could not get into, and that is a whole separate problem from paper vs digital.
