Warning: don't trust those foam switch pads from the cheap kits

I put foam pads under my switches last month thinking they'd fix the rattle on my Gateron browns. Turns out they compressed unevenly after about 2 weeks and now half my keys bottom out with a hollow thock while the other half still clack. I'm in Portland and got them from a $15 bag off Amazon, so maybe the material is just bad, but has anyone else had this issue with the black 3mm ones specifically?
