Still don't get the hype about brass plates

Everyone in this sub swears by brass plates for that "premium feel" but after building 3 boards with different brass options I just can't feel the difference. My first build used a FR4 plate from a group buy last summer and it sounded just as good to my ears. I spent $45 extra on a brass plate for my latest build and honestly I think my polycarbonate one from a budget kit sounds better. What am I missing here or is this just a placebo thing with the weight?

it's just the whole "i paid more so it must be better" thing that happens everywhere not just keyboards. same energy as people who swear they can taste the difference between $5 and $50 olive oil when most of us really can't. the weight and density feel fancy in your hands but your ears don't care about that. once you stop caring about the hype you start realizing most of the difference is in your head anyway.

Read somewhere that in blind tests even pro musicians can't reliably tell a $200 cable from a $20 one. Same logic applies here. Your brain's just wired to enjoy stuff more when you know it cost a lot.
