Picked up a tip about switch lubing from a guy at a meetup

I was at a keyboard meetup in Austin last month and overheard this guy telling someone he only lubes the springs on his linears, not the stems or housings. He said it saves a ton of time and still gives a smooth feel without the mush. I was skeptical since everyone preaches full lube jobs, but I tried it on a set of Gateron Yellows for my work board. Honestly, it worked fine. The switches feel much less scratchy than stock and I finished the whole board in under an hour. Has anyone else tried just spring lubing and stuck with it?

Gotta disagree here, I think skipping the stem lube is a shortcut that kills the whole point of lubing switches. Springs alone won't fix that scratchy plastic on plastic sound in the housing.

Doesn't over-lubing actually kill the tactile feel on linears though... I've had switches get that slow, muted rebound when you go crazy with the Krytox.
