My plate mount experiment ended in a 2am desolder session

I spent 3 hours building a plate mount board with some cheap switches I got at a meetup in Austin. By the second day, three stems were so wobbly it felt like typing on wet noodles. I was set on hating plate mount forever, but then I watched a build video where someone shimmed the plate with tiny o-rings. Tried it on one row, and the difference was night and day, so I reworked the whole thing last night. Has anyone else revived a plate mount this way, or did you just accept the jiggle?
