My GMMK Pro’s USB port just broke after two years of daily use
I was swapping out my keycaps last Tuesday night and the USB-C port on my GMMK Pro just popped off the PCB. The solder joints must have cracked from all the plugging and unplugging. I ended up ordering a replacement daughterboard for $15 off AliExpress, but now I have to wait three weeks for shipping. Has anyone else had a port fail on a hotswap board like this?

Same thing happens with cheap phone cables after a while, just gotta accept the disposable life now.

Damn, that sucks. I actually read a post on a keyboard builder subreddit a few months ago where a guy was ranting about this exact issue with the GMMK Pro. He said the stock USB-C port is soldered really poorly from the factory, and the daughterboard design makes it worse because the plug gets stressed every time you move the board around. It's a pretty common failure point from what I hear. You're doing the right thing ordering a replacement, but I'd definitely look into reinforcing the new one with some hot glue or epoxy around the port when you install it. Otherwise you'll be back here in another year complaining about the same damn thing. At least Glorious finally switched to a better connector design on the newer boards, but it's too little too late for us early adopters.
