My first build had a wobbly spacebar that drove me nuts for a month

I built my first 65% keyboard last spring and just used the stabilizers that came with the kit. The spacebar rattled so much I almost gave up on the hobby. After watching a video from Taeha Types, I learned about clipping, lubing, and holee modding the stabs. I spent an hour on just the spacebar stabilizer last weekend and now it's completely silent. Has anyone else found a specific mod that saved a build for them?

Taeha's video is great, but the holee mod can feel sticky sometimes. I had better luck just using a thicker lube like 205g0 on the wire ends.

I've done the holee mod on about twenty switches now and never had a sticky feel. The trick is using a super thin strip of bandage, like 1mm wide, and making sure it doesn't overlap the stem pole channel.

lol jason73 you're totally right about the holee mod being sticky sometimes. I actually tried it on my first build and the spacebar felt like it was fighting me for like a week. Reminds me of when I tried to fix a sticky spacebar on my old razer keyboard back in college and just ended up pouring isopropyl alcohol all over the switches cause I was too broke to buy proper lube. That keyboard smelled like a hospital for two months but it actually worked better somehow. Sometimes the jankiest fixes end up being the ones that stick with you, you know?
