Just realized most of my 2019 builds used plate mount stabs and I never noticed the rattle until I tried my buddy's board
I dug out my old Tofu build from four years ago last night and typed on it for the first time in a while. Back then I was using plate mount stabilizers because that's just what the kit came with, and I thought the spacebar felt fine. Then I typed on a friend's board he built two months ago with screw in stabs that he tuned with a syringe of lube and some band aids under the wire, and the spacebar was dead silent. I went back to mine and heard this little tick on every press that I somehow tuned out for years. I think a lot of people skip proper stab tuning because it seems fussy, but it's honestly the difference between a board that sounds good and one that sounds cheap. Now I'm debating whether to desolder the whole thing just to fix one key. Anyone else go back to an old build and hear stuff they missed the first time?
