Just overheard a teenager say switches are all the same and it got under my skin

I was at a coffee shop yesterday and this kid was telling his friend that spending more than $40 on a keyboard is a waste because all switches feel the same. I almost choked on my latte. After building my last board with Gateron Ink Blacks that cost me $65 for 90 pieces, I can tell you there's a world of difference between a $0.20 switch and a $0.70 one. It made me think about how many people just don't know what they're missing with proper lubrication and spring weights. Has anyone else run into this kind of oversimplified thinking about keyboard parts?

My buddy Mike once tried to lube his switches with WD-40. Let's just say that keyboard now lives in a landfill where it belongs.
