I fried a PCB on my first solder job last night in my garage at 2am
Had a cold joint on the backspace key and when I tried to fix it with a cheap iron the whole trace peeled off, so do I buy a new board or try to wire it up manually and hope for the best - what would you do?

@karenlee is right, a manual wire fix is the move. Worst case you end up with a keyboard that looks like a nightmare PCB but works, which is basically a rite of passage at this point.

the whole trace peeled off" - yeah that's rough, been there. Honestly I'd try the manual wire fix since you already messed up anyway, just use some thin kynar wire and hot glue to keep it from tearing again. It'll probably look ugly but hey, nobody sees the backspace key trace when the board is assembled.
