Hot-swap sockets beat soldering for everyday builds

I've built 4 boards over the last 2 years, and the soldered ones gave me way more headaches than the hot-swap ones. Swapped a bent pin on my office keeb in 5 minutes last week without dragging out the iron. Why are we still acting like soldering is the only 'real' way to do this?

Soldering gives you a rock solid connection that hot swap sockets just can't match, and that's the whole point of building a board instead of buying a prebuilt. Sure, swapping a pin is faster with sockets, but you're trading that convenience for a weaker electrical contact that can cause random key chatter down the road. If you're only doing one or two builds a year, the extra time soldering is worth it for the reliability.
