Hit 120 builds before I realized I never lubed a single switch right

I was going through my old boards last weekend and opened up my very first build from 3 years ago. The switches were bone dry, no lube at all, and I thought I had done it proper. Counted up all the kits I've done since then and it came to 120. Decided to re-lube one of my early boards with Tribosys 3204 and it sounded like a completely different keyboard. Has anyone else gone back and redone an old build and been shocked at the difference?

Rocks in a blender is probably the most accurate description I've ever heard for a dry build. My first one was some cheap Gat yellows in a plastic case and I thought I was a genius for getting them to stop rattling by just putting more foam in the case. What I'm wondering is, when you go back and fix those old builds, do you find yourself chasing a different sound profile now than what you liked back then? Like I used to think clacky and loud was the peak of typing, but now I can't stand anything above a certain pitch. It's almost like your ears develop a preference over time and you start hating the stuff you used to love.

God, that hits way too close to home. Pretty sure my first build sounded like a bunch of rocks in a blender and I thought it was peak performance.
