Guy at the hardware store in Boise told me my stabilizers were the problem, not my switches

I spent 2 months and about $60 swapping switches on my first build, trying to kill a rattle I could not find. He poked my spacebar, said the wire was bent, and told me to fix the stab before I touch another switch. What random advice fixed a build problem you were sure was something else?
