Gasket mount vs top mount, took 4 builds to finally pick one
I spent the last 6 months flip flopping between gasket mounted and top mounted plates. My first two boards were gasket, super soft and bouncy, but I kept bottoming out and the flex drove me nuts during long typing sessions. Then I tried a top mount on a friend's board in Austin and the stiffness felt weird at first, like typing on a brick, but the sound was so clean and consistent. I ended up rebuilding my daily driver with a top mount aluminum plate and swapped in some JWK blacks with 55g springs. The difference is wild, no more mushy feeling and my fingers don't wander as much. I still keep one gasket board for gaming since the give helps with rapid taps. Has anyone else gone back and forth between these mounts and landed on one over the other for daily work, or do you switch based on mood?
