Couldn't decide on a plate material for my new 60% case

I was building a board in a new aluminum case and had to pick between a brass plate for a heavier sound or a polycarbonate one for more flex. I went with the brass and it sounds great, but it feels a bit stiff to type on. Anyone have a good middle ground material they like?

I read a build log on a forum last week where someone used a 1.5mm thick FR4 plate in a similar case. It gave them a softer typing feel than brass but kept more structure than polycarbonate, so it could be a good middle ground. That half-plate idea from @sarahb59 might work well with a material like that too, to add a bit more flex where you want it. I haven't tried it myself, but the sound test they posted was really nice, kind of a deep pop without being too clacky. It seems like a solid option if you want to split the difference.

Ever feel like @sarahb59's half-plate idea is just life?

Honestly, have you thought about trying a half-plate design?
