Cleaned out my parts bin from 2021 and found 3 keyboards I forgot I built
Last week I finally went through the plastic tub under my workbench where I toss leftover switches, keycaps, and half finished plates, and I pulled out three full builds I made back in 2021 during the lockdown when I had nothing else going on. The one I miss most was a 65% with lubed linears and a brass plate I paid around $140 for, and honestly typing on it after two years felt better than the board I use now. Back then I was ordering group buy kits every month and soldering in my kitchen at midnight, and now I buy maybe one set of switches a year if that. Somewhere between then and now I stopped chasing new stuff and just started enjoying the boards I already own. Did anyone else slow way down on new builds, or am I just getting old and lazy?
