Built two 65% boards last month and the $40 plate beat the $120 one
Built two 65% boards last month. One with an aluminum plate, one with FR4. Same switches, same lube, same stabs. The aluminum one felt stiff and pinged like a tuning fork. The FR4 one had this soft pop sound I actually liked. Aluminum plate was $120 from a group buy. FR4 was $40 shipped from a guy on r/mechmarket. Gave the aluminum board to my brother. He loves it. Should I even bother with carbon fiber now or is it just FR4 with a fancier label?
