Unpopular opinion: a guy at a Chicago meetup said followers under 1,000 are dead weight and I can't shake it
He said it flat out in front of about 40 people at a creator meetup in Chicago last month, that anyone under 1,000 followers is basically invisible to brands and not worth a collab. I've been grinding at 800 subs for 7 months and make about $60 a month from a small print shop, so hearing that stung. But then two people came up to me after and said he was full of it, that their first paid deal came at 600 subs from someone who just liked their stuff. Now I keep going back and forth on whether I'm wasting time or just building slow. For those of you who got brand deals early, what follower count actually got you your first yes?
