Two years of posting daily did nothing, then one 45 second clip changed my channel trajectory
I tracked my analytics every Sunday for 24 months straight and never broke 500 views, but after I watched a viewer's comment asking for 'the boring tax breakdown version' instead of my usual hype edits, I made that plain talking video in my kitchen in New Jersey and it hit 12k in 3 days, so is the real shift about matching audience energy over production polish, or did I just get lucky with the algorithm?

Watched my own numbers do the exact same thing last spring. I spent almost a year doing fancy edits with zoom cuts and sound effects, and my best video in that whole stretch got like 700 views. Then I filmed one where I just sat on my couch and answered a question about why I stopped doing a certain type of video, totally unscripted, and it blew up to 40k. What I noticed was the comments changed, people were actually talking to me instead of just watching, and that kept feeding the thing. Looking back I don't think it was luck, I think people can tell when you're putting on a show versus when you're just talking to them like a person. The hype edits got clicks maybe but they never got replies, and replies are what push a video out. That boring tax breakdown thing probably hit because somebody asked for it, so the people watching already wanted that exact thing.
