My subscriber count doubled after I stopped using trending audio for 3 months
I run a small DIY channel on YouTube with about 2k subs last year. I was obsessed with using whatever trending song or sound was popping off, but my videos were getting maybe 200 views. Around September, I just started using raw audio from my workspace, no background music at all. My average watch time jumped from 2 minutes to nearly 8 minutes on the last video. Has anyone else seen better growth when they stopped chasing trends?

Wait, hold on. You said your watch time jumped from 2 minutes to EIGHT minutes? That's INSANE. I have to be honest, I don't fully believe it but I really want to. I've been chasing the algorithm on my own stuff for years and it never felt right. The way you describe it, people are just sitting there watching your raw workspace audio for almost ten minutes? That's a massive shift. I bet they actually care about what you're building now instead of some generic beat in the background. Good for you, man.
