I used to cold email brands for sponsorships, now I just make a post and wait for the DMs
Two years ago I was sending 40 cold emails a month to pet brands trying to get sponsorships for my grooming videos and getting maybe one reply, and that reply was always a no. Now I just post a clip using a product I actually like and brands slide into my DMs within 48 hours, which feels backwards from everything I was taught about pitching. Did the whole pitch deck thing ever really work for anyone, or were we all just wasting our time building media kits nobody read?
Wasted so much time on media kits back in the day and honestly got sick of building them, so I stopped. Figured cold pitching was just how it worked until I watched a smaller creator get three brand deals in a month just from posting videos with products on her desk. That flipped it for me. Brands are watching the feed now instead of digging through inboxes, so the post does the pitching for you.
