Decided to stop promoting my Patreon for a month and my income actually went up

I run a small illustration account on Instagram and I was pushing my Patreon link in every single post and story for like a year. I got tired of it last month so I just... stopped. I didn't mention it once for 30 days. My Patreon subs went from 45 to 62 and I have no idea why. Maybe people hate feeling sold to constantly? Has anyone else seen better engagement or income after backing off the hard sell?
