Can we talk about hitting 1,000 true fans and still barely making rent?
I crossed 1,000 paid subscribers on my woodworking channel around March and I figured that was the magic number everybody talks about, but my payout for that month was only $2,340 before Stripe and Patreon took their cut in San Antonio. I sat down with a spreadsheet and saw I was making less per hour than when I did 40 hours a week selling furniture at a flea market off I-35. The number that scared me was $14,400, which is what I cleared across 11 months of posting three videos a week. Anyone else here hit a milestone that was supposed to change things and it just felt like a second job with worse hours?
