A booth at the Portland Saturday Market got me to stop giving away my songs for free
I used to put every track I made on streaming for basically nothing and thought that was just how it worked. Then I stood at a stall in Portland last month and watched a painter sell 22 small prints at $40 each in an afternoon, mostly to people who just liked her stuff. What got me was she wasn't huge online, she just had a table, a sign, and a price she didn't budge on. So now I'm wondering if I should sell my next 5 song EP as a cheap download instead of tossing it up everywhere.
