Wrote a 6 word story prompt for my writing group and got 9 paragraphs back
Last Tuesday I gave my writers group the classic 6 word story prompt, you know the Hemingway one about baby shoes, and asked everyone to write their own. I expected short stuff back. Instead 4 out of 5 people turned in these long 9 paragraph pieces because they said 6 words felt too cramped. One guy even attached a chart. I learned that constraints only work if you actually enforce them, so next time I'm setting a hard word cap and reading them out loud so everyone hears it. Has anyone run a 6 word prompt and gotten the same thing, or did your group actually keep it short?
