Worst week ever turned best story material after my car died in Tulsa

Last Tuesday my alternator gave out on the interstate, then my phone died, then it rained, and somehow a tow truck driver recited the whole plot of a noir novel he wrote. I turned that 6 hour ordeal into a short story with him as the narrator, has anyone else mined a disaster week for prompt gold?
