TIL my old plot outline notebook got ruined in a coffee spill last Tuesday
I was sitting at the Java House on 3rd Street rewriting a fantasy prompt I'd been kicking around for years, and my elbow bumped my mug. The whole thing soaked through the cover and smeared half the notes I'd made back in 2019. I spent the rest of the night trying to scan the pages with my phone before the ink faded completely. Anybody else have a writing project take a hit from something stupid like a drink or a spilled pen?

One thing people don't always consider is that coffee's acidity can actually eat away at the ink and paper over time if you don't clean it off right away. A drop of white vinegar on a clean cloth might have saved more of those 2019 notes than just scanning them dry. Also, if you still have the notebook, try putting it in the freezer for a few hours first to stop any further smearing from the moisture. My own experience with a water bottle leak taught me that the hard way when I lost a whole chapter of outlines.

Freezer trick just locks in the stain, you cooked those pages for nothing.
